What is the challenge for e-commerce retailers today?
The mobile phone replaced the desktop PC as the first contact in 2016. Since then, the percentage has continued to rise and will tend to grow to over 80% in the coming years.
However, there are still very low conversion rates for mobile phones vs. desktop PCs. The conversion rate via desktop is still almost twice as high as for mobile phones. However, this is not due to the mobile input channel, but rather to the still lack of mobile-optimized websites. Customers are willing to buy on mobile, but many websites do not yet allow this.
Thus, the mobile input channel becomes a necessary evil in which one has to invest money without a really good return on investment.
What is far worse is the fact that, many online retailers are turning off this mobile channel completely, and no longer promoting it due to the poor ROI over search machines . This is a fatal mistake with drastic consequences for future growth. It is better to improve the mobile capability of the website than to ignore the mobile input channel.
Many customers search for offers on the Internet when they are bored. These moments are usually not at home, but while waiting, for example on the train, at the doctor's or on a relaxing weekend trip. Even if they only browse there, many customers come back afterwards and complete their purchase. This can also happen on the desktop PC later. However, only if the customer has already received all the necessary information for their purchase decision via the small mobile display.
The big challenge today is ........ to transfer all the necessary information to customers via small mobile screens. ESCON can help you with this with years of experience from extensive crowd testing.
What do ready-made shop systems offer?
Ready-made shop systems such as Shopware or Magento only offer you a basic shop with a checkout process already built in. There are also various providers of ready-made shop systems in the online printing sector who claim that it is very easy to generate sales with them. Unfortunately, most providers come from the area of closed shop systems and do not have sufficient experience in acquiring new customers via paid entry channels such as Google, Yahoo, etc. As a result, only few startups with ready-made web2print systems are really successful. Extensive programming is necessary to adapt the ready-made systems to today's requirements or open shops.
Simply linking a paid ad to the homepage or product page is no longer sufficient. Landing pages and special offers for new customers increase the chance of a purchase and are already state of the art.
There is a lot of catching up to do among providers of ready-made shop systems. Without an offer of online marketing modules, they will be just as unlikely to be successful in the long term as their customers.
See what a B2C solution can look like using the example of our ESCON Demo Web2print portal. For sure this can also be used for other branches then print.
